Description

Here is a remarkable 5x7 black and white photograph signed by actor Sir Charles Spencer “Charlie” Chaplin! Chaplin (d.1977), who is widely regarded as the greatest actor of the silent film era, was the main figure responsible for making Hollywood what it is today. Along with fellow United Artists founders Douglas Fairbanks, D.W. Griffith and Mary Pickford, Chaplin sought to establish control of his work outside of the larger commercial studios. This black steel-tipped fountain pen signature presents bold (“9”) quality and contains the inscription 1966 underneath the “Chaplin” of Sir Charles’s signature. The photograph pictures Chaplin in his trademark Tramp persona which was so popular that it made him one of the most famous people in the world by the end of the second World War. Comes with a full-photo LOA from JSA.
