A complete run of these elegant Hall of Fame induction bats, 74 in total. Each bat is near mint to mint in original shipping box as issued, never displayed. All but six of these carry the same edition number of 109. The exceptions to this are: 1937 #311, 1982 #22, 1983 #35, 1984 #52, 1987 #322, and 1988 #267.
The bats from 1936 through 1987 carry a low production number of 500. In 1988, the Hall of Fame increased the production to 1000 for future years. There are two exceptions to this, in 1999 the production was 1500, and in 2007 the production was 2007. Surprisingly no one was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1940, 1941, 1943, 1950, 1958, or 1960, so no bats exist for these years.
Our consigner was on site when these hit the shelves in the Hall of Fame gift shop in the early 1980's. He purchased a bat and signed up for the subscription service. The issuing of the same edition number was not a priority at that time, and it took several years and six bats to secure number 109, so most likely no sets exist that carry the same edition number. Arrangements with the Hall of Fame have been made and the winning bidder will have the rights to purchase future bats with the number 109. The lot will ship from our consignor’s home in the Chicago area. Pick up arrangements can be made or due to size/weight of the lot, a shipping surcharge will apply. This item has a reserve (estimated value $4500-$6500).
