Let's not beat around the bush: If this Williams gamer were an unsigned full bat rather than a team-signed half-bat, it would be worth upwards of $50,000. Indeed, the record auction price for lumber from Teddy Ballgame's '47 Triple Crown season is well over $75,000. Nevertheless, we believe this one-of-a-kind offering is extraordinary in its own right, and deserves equal consideration. There are 30 superb "8"-strength signatures, with Williams as the centerpiece, flanked up the barrel by Pesky, Fine, Mele, Parnell, Harris, Doerr, Wagner, Klinger, Gutteridge, York, Goodman, Murphy, D. DiMaggio, Baker, Moses, Hughson, Schreiber, Woodall, Hayes, Culberson, Johnson, Pellagrini, Russell, Ferriss, Dobson, Zuber, Dorish, Partee and Cronin (clubhouse). A period notation in an unidentified hand reads, "Boston Red Sox 1947." According to PSA/DNA, the 35" ash bat "is un-cracked and exhibits evidence of outstanding use. Many ball marks are visible on the front, right and left barrel." Full LOA from PSA/DNA for the game used bat. Full LOA from JSA for the autographs.
